Excellent. Travel with the author from Cairo to Cape Town.
He traveled about 10 years after my 1990 college trip to Egypt (considered by many to not be a part of Africa). It was really interesting reading his take on the changes there, after the gulf war riled the region up and made it much less safe for tourists.
Other than visiting the pyramids, I've never had much interest in places I consider hot and dry (probably due to Lyme disease and headaches). Africa fell into that category for me, though I should know better than to generalize. This book was both educating and entertaining. From his recommendations I added many African works to my "want to get" list. Definitely expanded my horizons!
